Application Checklist

At Weatherhead School of Management, our admissions committee takes a holistic approach to reviewing applications and considers both an applicant’s academic history and work experience. When reviewing your profile for admission consideration, we require the following:

The online application captures general personal, contact and demographic information as well as education and employment history. Applicants must submit a $100 application fee as part of the online admissions process. The application fee can be waived as an early application incentive.

To help us better understand you as a candidate—beyond your transcripts, recommendation letters and resume—you’ll have the opportunity to share your lived experiences through video essays and a vision statement. A link will be emailed after your application is submitted and application fee is fulfilled.

The résumé should include all work experience. If you are an early-career applicant, it should also include part-time employment, internships and co-op employment.

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) exams are optional for admission but do require a waiver code. Applicants choosing to submit test scores must submit (upload) either an unofficial or official exam in the Standardized Test Reporting section. We do not have a minimum test score requirement but please visit the class profile page to see the average test scores for the current class in this program. We only require unofficial exams during the admissions review process. If you are admitted and decide to enroll, you will submit official documents then. Further instructions will be sent by email.

Do not upload your exam or enter your test results unless you are satisfied with your current scores since you will not be able to change this after you submit your application. If you plan to retake the test in hopes of improving your scores, please wait to upload your final exam. If you do upload a GMAT or GRE and ask us to change it later, your admission decision will be delayed. New or updated test scores will not be accepted after an application has been marked complete.

Some applicants require time to take the GMAT or GRE. Considering this, our team may interview applicants who have not yet taken either test (or who plan to retake a test for a higher score) but whose undergraduate transcripts and work history demonstrate high performance. Please note: An offer for admission cannot be extended with an incomplete application package. The Weatherhead School does not offer conditional admission under any circumstances. We reserve the right to deny admission if an application remains incomplete by the Round 3 deadline.

GMAT Code: WTJ-F1-17
GRE Code: 1105

Waivers may be available for qualified applicants.

All applicants are required to submit unofficial transcripts of all post-secondary education for the application and review process. Please include your school’s grading scale. Separate transcripts are also required if you received any transfer credit from another university. You may upload these to the “Transcripts” section of the online application. If you are admitted to the program and decide to enroll, we will require your official transcripts at that time.

Online MBA Applicants are only required to provide the names and contact information of their recommenders to submit a completed application and to receive an admission decision. Recommenders will receive the request to complete the recommendation and may do so but are not required to do so. If the recommender does not provide the recommendation, it will not impact the decision. If the recommendation is provided, it is only used as an additional data point if needed. Additionally, if the recommender does not provide a recommendation, it is possible that we will follow up with a recommender if we need additional insight.

Once your application is complete, you may receive an invitation to interview.

If you have or will have earned a three-year bachelor’s degree, you may need a transcript evaluation prepared by World Education Services (WES) or Education Credential Evaluators (ECE).

Requesting a GRE/GMAT Waiver

Submission of standardized test scores can enhance your consideration for admission and for an academic merit scholarship. However, applicants with any of the three areas of experience below may seek to waive the GRE/GMAT requirement for the Online MBA program:

  • Five or more years of related professional work experience demonstrating quantitative ability.
  • Completed an undergraduate or graduate degree with significant quantitative content within the last five years, with at least a 3.0 final GPA. .
  • Earned a CMA, CPA or CFA certification or additional certification in a quantitative discipline.

To pursue a waiver, within the Standardized Test Reporting section of the application, indicate in the drop down list “I believe I qualify for a waiver” and follow the prompts.

  • Upon receiving your request to be considered for a test waiver, the operations team will conduct a complete and holistic review of your application materials.
  • If you are granted a test waiver, your application checklist will be updated and the admission and merit scholarship decisions will be reliant on all other materials submitted. A test waiver does not guarantee that you will be admitted.
  • If you are not granted a waiver, you will be notified a test score is required for admission.

While we may grant a waiver, please be aware that some employers will require you to provide a GMAT or GRE during their application process. As a result we strongly recommend you take the GMAT or GRE to keep your options open especially if you are considering consulting or investment banking careers.
